built, the house she still lives.
Graduated Shawnee Mission Rural (north) High School 1937. & Kansas City Business College.
Clena was the organist for the Shawnee United Methodist Church for 33
years. Starting by playing piano
for Sunday school when she was less than 10 years old, and progressed to the
Organ, every Saturday
she would go practice the songs for Sunday. She only quit playing when she
fell and broke her shoulder,
she never recovered enough motion to reach up and turn the music pages by
herself. So she
retired, she was
involved for 40+ years, maybe more, playing for the Church.
During WW2, she worked for the Gas Service Co. in Merriam, Kansas and was a teller at the
Mission State
Bank in Mission, Kansas. She was Assistant City Clerk for the City of Shawnee for l5 years. (1962 -
1975) back
when Shawnee was a small town.
She is a member of the DAR. That means she is directly related to a person that
fought in the Revolutionary war. In fact, 3 people we know of
without much research.
She had a twin brother ( Wilson Fremont Jones) , who must have breached at birth,
causing brain damage, their mother died a few weeks after their birth. WFJ
is still living at age 93
